Just having enough supplies to make it through a hurricane isn’t enough. You need plenty to make it through what could be a LONG recovery period too. Water and electricity could be out for a week or more.

Bulloch County VOAD (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster ) a local non-profit that responds to humanitarian needs in times of disaster, is preparing for hurricane season during hurricane preparedness week.

Coastal Empire Disaster Recovery Committee (CDREC) is a partner agency to Bulloch VOAD . Bulloch County VOAD is an organization that helps prepare and meet the humanitarian needs of our community for three to five days in the event of a disaster.

Volunteers from Bulloch County Schools, Feed the Boro and the Statesboro Kiwanis Club came together early Saturday morning to help with the Bulloch VOAD food drop.

According to Bulloch County Public Safety Director Ted Wynn, it is looking more like Tropical Storm Isaias will remain offshore with most of the bad weather along the coast.

Newly named Tropical Storm Isais is near Puerto Rico moving toward Hispaniola. Based on the NWS 5 PM report today it appears the storm will not impact Bulloch County or the Coast of Georgia significantly.

According to Bulloch County EMA and Public Safety Director Ted Wynn, potential Tropical Cyclone 9 we has about a 90% probability of developing into a tropical storm with the name of “ Isaias ”.
