Statesboro Mayor to Host Annual State of the City Address later this month

City of Statesboro Mayor Jonathan McCollar will host the 2024 State of the City address on Tuesday, February 27, in the Emma Kelly Theater in Downtown Statesboro. In addition to the official address, the program will feature a presentation of the flags by the Statesboro High School JROTC Color Guard, musical performances and a Q&A session with the Mayor. The public is invited to attend.

Monday accident claims lives of beloved local couple

Perry and Vendora Cobb were natives of Metter and Portal, respectively, and had lived on the family farm in Candler County since they married in 1959. They are remembered by friends and family as a sweet couple who loved poodles and dining out together. Their visitation will be held on Wednesday at Joiner-Anderson, with funeral services following on Thursday.

Statesboro Village Builders to host next Family Fun Resource Day Feb. 24

Statesboro Village Builders will host its second “Family Fun Resource Day” of 2024 on Saturday, February 24, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau (222 S Main Street, Statesboro). Members of the community are invited to attend a day of entertainment filled with music, interactive games, and onsite resources. Kids can enjoy face painting, arts and crafts, and a bounce house. There will also be free food, books and door prizes.
