Local barbecue enthusiasts Stacy Underwood, owner of Uncle Shug's BBQ Place, and Ryan Waters, made a sizzling mark at the Memphis in May International Festival World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. Competing with top teams from around the globe, the duo showcased their culinary skills, earning impressive placements and bringing pride to their community.

Statesboro buzzed with excitement as families gathered for the much-anticipated Family Resource Fun Day. Hosted by Statesboro Village Builders, the event offered a day of free entertainment, engaging activities, and valuable community resources. In a poignant Memorial Day speech at the Emma Kelly Theater, retired Major Jeff Odegaard honored fallen soldiers and challenged the audience to reflect on their own civic contributions. Speaking to a captivated crowd, Major Odegaard shared powerful stories of sacrifice and courage, reminding everyone of the true cost of freedom. He concluded by asking each attendee how they can be the kind of citizen worth dying for.

Residents from the Cottages at Bethany had the privilege of hosting our local first responders for breakfast on Friday morning. It was a heartwarming event where they celebrated the dedication and sacrifice of these men and women in Bulloch County. Let's continue to honor and support our first responders, who go above and beyond to ensure our safety and well-being. Together, we can show our appreciation for these everyday heroes who selflessly protect and serve our community.

All first responders are welcome to stop by the Bethany Community Commons Building on Friday morning for a free breakfast as a thank you for their service to our community.

The June 1 event is for all ages and will raise funds to benefit Habitat Bulloch's work in helping three local families realize their dreams of homeownership. Registration is open!
