The Georgia Southern women's basketball team broke the single-season shot blocking record in their win over the Jaguars.

Both Statesboro varsity basketball teams were in action on Friday night for their region championships. The Women's basketball team lost to the Ware County Gators 47-36. The Statesboro Men's Basketball team defeated Bradwell Institute 39-38 to win the region championship.

The team embarks on a four-game exhibition schedule to prepare for the 2024 regular season.

Staten is averaging 16 points and 14 rebounds on an efficient 50% from the field. Next, she is looking to lead her team to a region championship.  

Both the men's and women' s basketball teams for Portal advance to the region championships. The Lady Panthers defeated Jenkins County 40-32. The Panthers' men defeated Montgomery County 95-51.

The Georgia Southern NIL Store powered by Campus Ink is officially open for business, featuring custom and co-licensed apparel sold for Eagle student-athletes. Fans now have the opportunity to celebrate and support student-athletes from all 17 Georgia Southern teams.

The Eagles went ahead 19-17 after a three by Eugene Brown III, but never again went in front after the Chanticleers nailed seven straight field goals.

Georgia Southern was held scoreless over the game's final two minutes and 40 seconds by the Ragin' Cajuns.

The Georgia Southern Eagles will host the Maryland Terrapins on Friday evening at 6:30pm, on Saturday at 2pm, and on Sunday at 1pm. The first two opening weekend games will feature fan giveaways.
