Statesboro Women's Tennis set for playoff run after dominant performance over two region champions

Statesboro women's tennis is ready to take on state after solidifying confidence in deep playoff run potential.

The Statesboro High Lady Devils hosted Screven County and Southeast Bulloch on Wednesday at Mill Creek. Statesboro was looking for good competition before the state playoffs and bringing in two region champions to compete against to prepare for State. 

Against Screven

  • Naomi Feltman won big at first singles by a score of 4-0,4-1
  • Ada Lacienski won 4-2,4-0 at third singles
  • Jolee Jordan and Maggie Proctor won 4-0,4-0 at first doubles
  • Lindsay Collins and Annalia Small also won 4-0 at second doubles 

Against SEB

  • Naomi Feltman won 4-2,4-0
  • Ada Lacienski won 4-0,4-1 in singles action
  • Maggie Proctor and Jolee Jordan won 4-2,4-1
  • Annalia Small and Lindsay Collins won 4-0,4-2 at doubles.  

QUOTABLES

“I was really proud of how our girls competed against two region champions,” head coach Brian Hall said. “Getting two 4-1 wins against quality competition makes me feel we are ready for the playoffs.”

Statesboro finishes the regular season with a 17-5 record and will host Tucker High School at Mill Creek on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at 2 pm for the first round of the GHSA Class 5A, Region 1 State Playoffs.
