Recently celebrating 17 years of service in Bulloch County, Backpack Buddies serves elementary and middle school children in need with extra food to take home over the weekend, packed inside in their bookbags. Compassionate collaboration between schools, churches, and Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia make this vital program a possibility in our community.

The Georgia Southern Symphony and String Camerata, a premier ensemble of the Gretsch School of Music, has been a recipient of an Emmy Award and featured in performances throughout the State and Region, including the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service Conferences, the Georgia Governor’s Mansion, and more.

The Blue vs. White Spring Football Game, presented by Morris Bank, Southern Exchange, and the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport, kicks off Saturday, April 20, at noon. The game will be featured on ESPN+ starting at 12:30 p.m. and conclude with an autograph session with the team on the field. During the game, fans can visit part of the Anthony P. Tippins Athletic Training Facility. Plus, a petting zoo will be on-site for children to enjoy. 

The G700’s FAA certification also confirmed two new performance improvements, giving customers increased flexibility and airport availability: a balanced field length takeoff distance of 5,995 feet/1,827 meters and a landing distance of 3,150 ft/960 m (standard ISA day, sea level), both shorter than originally anticipated.

Non-profit organizations and farmers markets can apply for the Growing Our Communities Grant to receive up to $5,000 to help with agriculture-related projects in our territory. Grant applications will be accepted from April 1 to June 30th, 2024. Proposals will be reviewed and grants will be awarded in Nov-Dec of 2024. Funds awarded maybe utilized by recipients during the 2025 calendar year.

Walrath, from Kenosha, Wis., joined the USA National Futures Team at 2022's USA Shooting Nationals and the National Development Team after 2022's Junior World Championships in Egypt.
