General Assembly passes bill targeting fentanyl
The Georgia General Assembly passed the Fentanyl Eradication and Removal Act, which now awaits Governor Brian Kemp’s signature and imposes mandatory minimum sentences for fentanyl trafficking, starting at five years for possessing between four and 14 grams, with supporters arguing it will deter traffickers while opponents question the effectiveness of mandatory minimums.
