Give a bear, show you care! Donate a new, unused stuffed animal for SPD's stuffed animal drive "Bears Behind the Badge"

The Statesboro Police Department is seeking donations of new, unused stuffed animals to comfort children during calls for service. Community members can drop them off at the SPD front lobby during business hours.

The Statesboro Police Department is asking for the community's help to bring a bit of comfort to children experiencing traumatic situations. The department has launched a collection drive for new, unused, store-bought stuffed animals to be given to children encountered during calls for service.

These small gestures can make a big difference in a scary moment for our community’s little ones. Often, police officers are the first on the scene during difficult circumstances involving children, such as accidents, domestic disputes, or other emergencies. A soft, friendly stuffed animal can provide a much-needed sense of security and a distraction during what can be a frightening and confusing time.

The Statesboro Police Department believes these "comfort bears" (or other stuffed animals) can help officers connect with children and offer a measure of solace when they are most vulnerable. It's a simple act of kindness that can have a lasting positive impact on a child's experience during a stressful event.

Donations can be dropped off in the front lobby of the Statesboro Police Department, located at 25 West Grady Street, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.

For any questions regarding the stuffed animal drive, the public is encouraged to contact Community Information Specialist Ruth Atchley at 912-764-9911 extension 2356.

The Statesboro Police Department extends its gratitude to the community for supporting this initiative and helping to bring comfort to the youngest members of Statesboro in their time of need.
