The highly anticipated return of Boro Browse brought crowds of Georgia Southern students, local businesses, and community organizations together on Thursday, August 28, filling the Russell Union on the Statesboro campus with music, food trucks, and tables lined with opportunities.
The event, hosted by the Office of Student Activities, serves as a campus tradition each fall, designed to connect students with both on-campus resources and the surrounding Statesboro community. Dozens of local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and student groups lined the sidewalks, giving students the chance to meet new people, discover opportunities and even grab a free treat or two.
Food trucks like Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q and other local vendors provided lunch options, drawing long lines of hungry students eager to sample some of Statesboro’s favorites. From barbecue and shaved ice to coffee and snacks, the afternoon felt like a mix of community fair and campus block party.
For many students, Boro Browse is one of the first major events of the new semester. Freshmen and returning Eagles alike wandered from booth to booth, stopping to chat with business owners, nonprofit leaders, and student representatives eager to share what they had to offer.
The atmosphere was filled with smiles, laughter, and plenty of handshakes and hugs, as old friends reunited and new connections were made.
Campus departments such as the Business Innovation Group (BIG), Campus Recreation and Intramurals (CRI), and the Office of Leadership and Community Engagement were on hand to showcase how students can get involved, while local small businesses used the opportunity to connect directly with the student population.
Tables stretched across the Russell Union lawn with giveaways, flyers, and swag bags. From student accessibility resources to intramural sports sign-ups, every corner of student life seemed represented.
Boro Browse continues to serve as more than just a showcase; it’s a celebration of the strong partnership between Georgia Southern and the Statesboro community.
Whether it’s landing an internship, finding a favorite local restaurant, or simply learning about student services, the event creates lasting connections.
As the afternoon wrapped up, the crowd left Russell Union with full stomachs, free swag, and new opportunities ahead. For many, it was the perfect way to kick off a new semester and be reminded of the community that surrounds them.
