Georgia Southern University Art Professor Casey Schachner has won a global design contest. Her design for the COVID-19 Monument of Honor, Remembrance, and Resilience, selected by the COVID-19 Monument Commission, will be unveiled in Chicago in spring 2025.

Researchers Drs. Stacy Smallwood and Kristina Patterson from Georgia Southern University invite African American and Hispanic/Latino/a community members to share their views on health and well-being in Statesboro and Bulloch County. Participants will receive $40 for their time, and childcare will be provided. The project is supported by seed funding from Georgia Southern University’s Faculty Research Council.

This program is open to college students and young professionals interested in learning about the legislative process and assisting with the responsibilities of a congressional office. Interns will perform a range of tasks including constituent outreach, legislative writing, and more, with the possibility of earning school credit. Summer internships are split into two six-week sessions, and all applications must be submitted via Congressman Allen's website by Friday, March 15, 2024. 

Bodison, who is new to Bulloch County Schools, has been serving as one of two assistant principals at Mattie Lively this school year. He has nearly 10 years of experience as an administrator at the elementary, middle and high school levels. He will begin serving as Mattie Lively principal on July 1.

Larry Mays is now Vice President for College Advancement at Ogeechee Tech, following the retirement of Michelle Davis. OTC President Lori Durden says Mays’s experience in fundraising will be a valuable asset to the Ogeechee Tech Foundation.

The Georgia Southern University String Camerata has received a grant of nearly $55,000 from the Halle Foundation to support the ensemble’s educational tour of Germany. During this tour, Georgia Southern string players will experience German composers, music history and music culture in an authentic manner that players do not get in a typical home setting.

Georgia Southern University recently recognized approximately 2,350 students for excellence in academics on the Fall 2023 President's List. To be eligible for the President's List, a student must have at least a 4.0 grade point average and carry a minimum of 12 hours for the semester.

The summit's goals were to update business, industry, and community partners about the continued progress that has been made toward accomplishing the goals of the Bulloch County Career Workforce Development Plan and to celebrate successes within Bulloch County Schools' career pathway programs. Exciting things are on the horizon for CTAE and work-based learning in Bulloch County!
