After the the region playoffs, the Portal Middle High Panther varsity basketball teams have made it to state play. The girls are coming in ranked third in the region and the boys are coming in ranked first. Both play this Wednesday (Feb 21, 2024) at home.

The Edwin Jackson Memorial Walk On Tryouts for the spring are scheduled for March 7 at 3 p.m. Schedule, physical, medical insurance, and sports medicine documents are required before participation. Read below to obtain further needed information about the tryouts.

Brown's 21 were a career-high, as were his ten rebounds. Tidwell went 6-7 from the field, scoring 14, and Moore (12) and Eren Banks (11) also scored in double digits. The Eagles recorded 51 second-half points in the loss.

The Georgia Southern women's basketball team broke the single-season shot blocking record in their win over the Jaguars.

Both Statesboro varsity basketball teams were in action on Friday night for their region championships. The Women's basketball team lost to the Ware County Gators 47-36. The Statesboro Men's Basketball team defeated Bradwell Institute 39-38 to win the region championship.

The team embarks on a four-game exhibition schedule to prepare for the 2024 regular season.

Staten is averaging 16 points and 14 rebounds on an efficient 50% from the field. Next, she is looking to lead her team to a region championship.  

Both the men's and women' s basketball teams for Portal advance to the region championships. The Lady Panthers defeated Jenkins County 40-32. The Panthers' men defeated Montgomery County 95-51.
