SHS Student, Katlyn Sullivan, is the GHSA Rifle State Champion

The young markswoman has garnered much a stature in Olympic and National competitions

Waycross, GA - March 16, 2024 - Statesboro High School junior Katlyn Sullivan emerged victorious at the 2024 GHSA Riflery State Championship, held today at the Ware County Shooting Complex. Sullivan's precision and focus proved to be a winning combination as she topped the individual leaderboard in the three-position air rifle competition.

The grueling competition tested marksmanship skills from prone, standing, and kneeling positions, demanding both physical control and unwavering focus. Sullivan, however, displayed nerves of steel, consistently hitting the bullseye throughout the event. Her impressive final score secured her the coveted individual state champion title.

This victory marks a significant achievement for Sullivan and Statesboro High School's riflery program. As a junior, Sullivan's talent and dedication are a shining example for aspiring marksmen across the state.

"I am so happy,” Sullivan said after her win. “All the hard work and practice throughout the season truly paid off.  The finals were hard, but I was able to keep focused and keep shooting 10's.  I am proud to have represented and won for Statesboro High School."

Sullivan's accomplishment is sure to inspire her teammates and future generations of Statesboro riflery athletes.
