Don't miss it! Register for Ogeechee Riverkeeper's Canoochee Paddle Race by April 10

Paddlers will traverse seven miles of the Canoochee River finishing at Rocks River Bridge Landing. The deadline to enter is April 10th at noon, and volunteers are still needed for the pre-race Canoochee Cleanup.

Ogeechee Riverkeeper (ORK) will host the Canoochee Paddle Race, on April 13th from noon to 5pm. Beginning at Brewton Bridge, the paddlers will traverse seven miles of the Canoochee River finishing at Rocks River Bridge Landing.

Paddlers of kayaks, canoes, and stand-up paddleboards are all welcome to compete. Non-racers are also welcome to follow the route after racers have started.

Race categories consist of: Timed top 3 finishers (single), top 3 finishers (canoe/tandem); Funkiest Costume; Most Creative Boat; Dynamic Duo; Lazy River Award.  

The finish line will serve as headquarters for celebration during and after the race. After the paddlers have all arrived, an awards presentation will take place. Food and drinks will be available from Picho’s and Road-Tisserie.  

Meaghan Walsh Gerard, communications director for ORK shares, “This year we are delighted to have Chris Stalcup performing. With a tune named ‘Ogeechee River,’ we knew he’d be a great fit.” Stalcup is a Georgia-based country singer and songwriter.

The event is aimed at “celebrating the beauty of the environment and promoting conservation efforts in the region.” Damon Mullis, Riverkeeper and Executive Director says, “We believe that events like the Canoochee Paddle Race play a crucial role in fostering appreciation for our environment and inspiring stewardship.” Mullis hopes through this event it will “empower individuals to take action and make a positive impact on the health of our rivers and waterways.”

Cost: $50 per person; Free to cheer for the paddlers
