Terrell Strayhorn to lead Georgia Southern MLK celebrations on Jan. 12

Strayhorn will make two appearances at Georgia Southern’s Statesboro and Savannah campuses on Jan. 12. He will speak at a celebration breakfast on the Statesboro Campus at 8:30 a.m., followed by a lunch event on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah at noon. While the events are open to the public, registration is required.

Langston Chapel Middle School, which was placed on the Targeted Support and Improvement Schools List (TSI) in 2023, successfully met the requirements to be removed from the list; however, Langston Chapel Elementary and Stilson Elementary are two of 78 schools on the state’s Additional Targeted Support and Improvement Schools List (ATSI), a designation they will have for the next three years through 2026, when the schools will be re-evaluated for possible removal.

Gov. Kemp announces further incentivization for high-demand career pathways

The 2025 CCRPI calculation will provide additional credit for students completing a Career Pathway aligned to a high-demand industry, as defined by the Georgia Department of Education (DOE) in conjunction with business and industry partners and the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG). This will increase a school’s CCRPI Readiness score based on the number of students in high-demand pathways.

Georgia Southern students can visit the RAC on Monday night to rent a bicycle for the semester. The Campus Cycle program offers this as an affordable, environmentally friendly mode of transportation for students on the Statesboro Campus.

Bulloch County Schools employees will receive state-issued bonuses on Jan. 11

Bulloch County Schools will distribute retention bonuses to its employees on January 11. While the bonuses provided by the State of Georgia cover only state-funded employees, Bulloch County Schools will extend the bonus to ALL Bulloch County Board of Education-approved employees, not just those funded by the state.
