SEB High's one-act play cast wins multiple region honors
The cast competed in the Class 3-AAAA Region Championship on October 26 and took home honors including First Runner-up for Best Play, Best Supporting Actress, and All-Star Cast. The troupe will host a public performance of the play, Ten Ways to Survive the Zombie Apocalypse, on Monday, Nov. 27, at 7 p.m., in the school's auditorium.

Howard Keeley receives Presidential Distinguished Service Award for the Irish Abroad
The award is the highest honor the country of Ireland can give to a person who is a non-resident. Thirteen awards were announced worldwide, only two of which went to individuals based in the U.S. Keeley received the award in the business and economic development category for his development of Georgia Southern’s presence in Ireland and his facilitation of trade and investment opportunities between Georgia and Ireland.

Nation’s milk carton shortage affects Bulloch County Schools
While the school district awaits further information from the USDA and its suppliers, its school nutrition team has acted swiftly to order 1% half-pint cartons to supplement student school lunches. If supply chain issues continue, the department will consider the use of alternate milk choices such as pre-poured portions from gallons or shelf stable milk.

Candler and Screven among recipients of GaDOE grants to cover rural para-to-teacher certification
The grants will help reduce the financial burden for more than 500 rural Georgia paraprofessionals enrolled in a Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC)-approved educator preparation program in specific high-need areas. Eligible paraprofessionals will receive up to $6,000 in grant funds to help with the associated costs of pursuing a degree in education, including tuition, fees, and exam costs.

Georgia Southern to help student-parents offset childcare costs with $1.6 million grant
Written on behalf of the Office of Inclusive Excellence by Corine Ackerson-Jones, director of TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) on the Armstrong Campus in Savannah, the CCAMPIS grant will serve no less than 30 student-parents per year on the Armstrong Campus and the Liberty Campus in Hinesville by providing a maximum amount of $150 per week for childcare services to be paid directly to the childcare provider.
