As part of the bridge maintenance project, L. C. Whitford Co., Inc. will be shifting all three lanes of traffic east (right) utilizing the outside shoulder on I-95 North at the Ogeechee River Bridge located at the Bryan/Chatham County line beginning Friday, August 22 as part of the overall project’s maintenance staging plans.

Even though traffic will be maintained during this work, motorists should expect major travel delays on August 20 and 21 while the contractor is modifying striping to accommodate the traffic shift. Overnight August 21, double lane closure must occur to implement  the traffic shift.  Speed limits will be reduced to 60 mph. All work is subject to change due to weather and other factors.

Overnight Friday, August 22 the traffic shift will be reduced to two lanes continuing through the weekend until Monday, August 25 to complete bridge maintenance work that is necessary for the longevity of the bridge’s lifespan. All work should be complete, and shifts removed by August 27.

Motorists are reminded that this is a WORK ZONE and are advised to obey reduced speed limits and exercise extreme caution travelling through this area. Message signs, barrels and/or cones will be utilized to alert the public of the upcoming changes. Drivers should be aware that personnel and equipment will be operating in close proximity to travel lanes.
