After much discussion by the Bulloch County Board of Education, they voted 7 to 1 at noon on Friday to approve the millage rate increase. The Bulloch Board of Commissioners met at 3 PM for a procedural vote to adopt the BOE millage rate.

Brooks Keel, President of Augusta University and former President of Georgia Southern University announced his plans to retire in 2024.

Georgia DOT continues essential road work Sept. 9 through Sept. 15

Chronic Wasting Disease is a fatal neurological disease of deer, elk and moose caused by infectious proteins called prions. While it has not yet been detected in Georgia, you can help keep it out. The Eagles will recognize a total of 20 area teachers who will receive $250 classroom grants on the field Saturday in the game against UAB. Teachers from Portal Elementary, Statesboro High, Sallie Zetterower Elementary, Julia P. Bryant Elementary, Langston Chapel Elementary, Brooklet Elementary, and SEB are among the recipients.

The City is accepting applications for appointments to its Greener Boro Commission, One Boro Commission, and Planning Commission. The deadline to apply is September 15.

The next local food drop is this Saturday, September 9, at SHS. It is open to anyone in Bulloch County who needs food, and recipients are encouraged to get in line early.

The annual ceremony will take place on Monday, September 11, at 9am at Fire Station 1. The public is invited to attend.
