Slim Chickens is bringing freshly made Southern dishes and 75 new jobs to Statesboro, with their grand opening at 463 Northside Drive East in Statesboro on February 26th.

Perry and Vendora Cobb were natives of Metter and Portal, respectively, and had lived on the family farm in Candler County since they married in 1959. They are remembered by friends and family as a sweet couple who loved poodles and dining out together. Their visitation will be held on Wednesday at Joiner-Anderson, with funeral services following on Thursday.

The Statesboro Blue Devils defeated the Bradwell Institute Tigers with the Lady Blue Devils winning 66-60 and the Blue Devils winning 62-57. 12 seniors are celebrated for senior night in between the wins.

Atlanta has been selected to host eight World Cup matches in the summer of 2026. Mercedes-Benz Stadium in downtown Atlanta will be the site for five group stage matches, a round of 32 contest, a round of 16 match and a semifinal, the international soccer organization FIFA announced Sunday.

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is actively working the disappearance of Jeffery Denver Haymons, 59 year of age. The City of Statesboro received their 31st Tree City designation at the meeting on Tuesday. A driving force behind the Tree Board, Henry Clay, was honored for 40 years of service. The banquet will celebrate the past year in ministry and raise funds for campus operations and scholarships for missions. The program will include personal testimonies from student-athletes, coaches, and GS AIA staff. There will be a buffet dinner along with entertainment from special guest, Christian comedian Mike Goodwin.
