City of Statesboro selected for the GICH Senior Year Program
Out of 51 eligible alumni communities, 4 communities were selected for the second phase of review, which consisted of a site visit. After the site visit, Statesboro was selected as one of the inaugural communities. GICH Senior Year will allow the City of Statesboro to receive technical assistance from the Carl Vinson Institute, Georgia Municipal Association, and Department of Community Affairs on several housing and development-related grants.

University System of Georgia raising tuition by 2.5%
After keeping tuition flat at all but one of the University System of Georgia's 26 institutions for six of the past eight years, the system's Board of Trustees approved the tuition hike Tuesday. Out-of-state students will see a 5% increase, and a new third level of tuition for out-of-country students will be set at 2% above the out-of-state rate.
