The Governor’s Teaching Fellows Program was established to provide Georgia’s higher education faculty with expanded opportunities for developing and improving classroom instruction.

Portal Middle High and Statesboro High have both established a Chick-fil-A Leader Academy chapter at their schools. The national high school leadership program focuses on re-imagining high school leadership and encouraging students to make an impact through action. The SHS chapter will hold a community yard sale this weekend to benefit local group homes.

The tournament was held Saturday, April 15, at EGSC’s Piney Woods Disc Golf Course on the Swainsboro campus.

Thomas Marshall, Ed.D., will be inducted during the 95th Annual Georgia FFA State Leadership Conference, with the ceremony set to take place on Friday, April 28, at 3pm. Story contains a link to watch the livestream.

Congratulations to Savanna Schutte of Nevils Elementary and Emma Johnson of Portal Middle High for advancing to state in the Young Georgia Authors Contest! An award ceremony will be held on April 20 at the Coastal Pines Technical College in Jesup.

Overall enrollment for the spring semester at the system’s 26 institutions fell to 311,484, down 0.9% from last spring.

Approximately 4,200 students will graduate with associates, baccalaureate, master’s, specialist and doctoral degrees this semester during five ceremonies in Statesboro and Savannah. Ceremonies will be held on May 9, 10, 11 and 13.

AgSouth recently presented four students with Minorities in Agriculture, Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS) scholarships. Recipients each receive a $1,000 academic scholarship, the opportunity to participate in the Farm Credit VIP track of the 2023 National MANRRS Conference, and more.

The 2023 Alumni Awards ceremony was held at the Statesboro Convention & Visitors Bureau on April 14.

Taken online, students in third through eighth grades will have the opportunity to show what they have learned over the course of this school year. Including make-up days, the testing will run through May 10. A full schedule is included in the article.
