Join Ja'Kori as he describes the wonderful journey of discovery and inspiration, where the Great Promise Partnership and The City of Statesboro Village Builders organized a transformative event aimed at preparing students with the skills needed for success.

Students from Bulloch County were among the 100+ students to attend the event, which offered hands-on and virtual workshops, group training sessions, and one-on-one coaching.

Bulloch County native and current principal of Brooklet Elementary School Mike Yawn will retire at the end of this school year. Current BES assistant principal Krista Branch will serve as interim principal until the district names Yawn's permanent replacement.

The Rotary Club of Statesboro has selected 18 high school seniors as recipients of the 2024 Service Above Self Scholarships. The $1,000 scholarships will be used to fund their college educations.

With state colleges already test optional, this means no test scores will be required for admission at 23 of USG’s 26 public colleges and universities during the Academic Year 2025-2026 (Fall 2025, Spring 2026 and Summer 2026). The temporary waiver does not apply to the Georgia Institute of Technology, the University of Georgia, and Georgia College & State University.

At the championship, held at Georgia Tech in March, the STEM Club’s members medaled in 14 of the 24 individual events, bringing home eight first-place finishes, two second-place medals, and four third-place.

This rate – which applies to students who complete a Career Pathway – exceeds the overall state graduation rate by 13.35 percentage points, underscoring the relevance and effectiveness of CTAE opportunities. Pathway completers are prepared to pursue higher education, enter the military, accept an apprenticeship opportunity, or immediately begin their career.
