Georgia Power Company and Excelsior EMC are cautioning customers that power outages could extend until the end of next week. Georgia Power estimated restoration times for Bulloch on their outage map extends to Thursday evening October 3, 2024.

Neighbors helping neighbors stories are flooding in to Grice Connect. From helping cut trees from roadways to cleaning up each others yards, the stories are heartwarming. In a storm this vast, there are simply not enough resources to go around.

Pittman Park United Methodist Church will be open from 1 pm to 7 pm for those needing a place to refresh and recharge following the storm. Hot showers, hot meal, device recharging and AC.

Bulloch County Recreation and Parks is offering the facility's showers to the community. There are set times for hospital/emergency workers and the general public.

Citizens should prepare to be without power for several days. One of the main requests we are receiving is for drinking water. Bulloch County VOAD is working on options for water and has begun opening water refill stations for drinking water. We will update this list as more stations become available.

Georgia Power crews are working around the clock to restore power after Hurricane Helene, which caused significant damage in the southeast region. Area Manager Joel Hanner reports that restoration efforts are underway, with more resources arriving daily and estimated restoration times expected by late Saturday.

The hospital secured backup supplies including mobile generators and fuel to continue normal operations during Hurricane Helene. An announcement will be made regarding scheduled surgeries and clinic operations on Monday.

If you are trying to get in touch with a family member, friend, or your Georgia Southern student right now, please know that much of the community is currently without power and Internet, and there are interruptions in cell service, as well. NO serious storm-related injuries or deaths have been reported at this time.

Damage assessment teams are in the field for the most efficient response. Crews are navigating flooded roadways, fallen trees, and high wind gusts attempting to restore power.
