Georgia Power and Excelsior EMC have made significant progress in restoring power to Bulloch County citizens. With nearly 9,000 customers restored there remains over 11,000 without power.

The school system has made the decision to keep its original Fall Break, October 14-18, intact. The days missed due to Hurricane Helene will not be made up; instead, the district will adjust instruction to meet student needs.

Hot meals will be available at lunchtime today in Nevils, Brooklet, and Stilson/Leefield. Brooklet First Baptist, Leefield Baptist, and Old Fellowship Baptist will also offer ice, water, and device charging.

To request replacement benefits, eligible SNAP recipients must report the loss of food to DFCS and complete a Food Loss Replacement Form. Customers have 10 days from the date of the food loss to request a replacement for food lost during storm-related power outages that lasted four hours or more. CORE Credit Union has made a powerful statement in supporting hurricane recovery by being the first to donate $5,000 to the Bulloch Strong Recovery Fund. Their donation sets the stage for other businesses to step up and contribute, aiding Bulloch County in its recovery from Hurricane Helene’s devastation.

Volunteer organization Georgia Baptist Disaster Relief is now at Southbridge Community Church. They are able to help with tree removal, tarping, and yard cleanup. Stop by the church to fill out a job request form or to volunteer with them.

Bulloch County VOAD has launched the Bulloch Strong recovery fund to address the growing needs of the community following recent events. The fund will help manage financial contributions and direct resources to immediate recovery efforts in partnership with Pittman Park UMC.
