Tormenta FC will take on One Knoxville SC this Saturday, September 23, at 7:30pm. The "Georgia Southern Night" match will be played on Optim Sports Medicine Field at Tormenta Stadium here in Statesboro.
More than 30 different Georgia Southern student organizations are scheduled to be in attendance, and Tormenta will hold a tifo-making contest, as well. (A tifo is an organized fan display, usually made of banners, posters, or flags.) The student organization with the best tifo will win a contest trophy, signed ball, and free tickets, and 50% of profits from tickets sold will be given to a charity of their choice.
Before the match, Tormenta's student supporters' group, Flight Crew, is going to be collecting blankets benefiting both Candler County Hospital and the Metter Sunshine House. For each blanket a person donates, they will receive a raffle ticket. At halftime, a winning ticket will be chosen, and the winner will receive a team-signed training jersey.
The Flight Crew will also be giving out posters to the first 1,000 people to enter the stadium.
On the field, Tormenta is looking for some big points, as they are in the middle of pushing for the playoffs. One Knox is only one point ahead of Tormenta in the table, so a win or draw would give Tormenta a bump up in the rankings, putting them even closer to a playoff position with only 3 additional matches remaining.
