Statesboro Police officers, along with K9 units from SPD’s Special Investigations team and the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a planned school safety search at Statesboro High School on Thursday, September 4, in coordination with school administrators.
During the search, officers discovered a handgun in the possession of a 16-year-old male student.
The student was arrested and taken to a Regional Youth Detention Facility pending a Juvenile Court hearing. He faces charges of carrying a weapon in a school safety zone, a felony, and possession of a handgun by a person under 18.
