Over 1,000 packed into Enmarket Arena on Saturday to watch Georgia Southern volleyball take on South Carolina in an exhibition, the first-ever volleyball match at Enmarket Arena ahead of November's SEC Championship, and were treated to a 4-1 Eagles win over the Gamecocks.

The Eagles, who were named first in the East in the Sun Belt preseason poll, took home the first four sets and narrowly lost the final set in front of a raucous crowd in Savannah.

"It was simply an incredible night here, and I can't thank Eagle Nation enough for their support," head coach Chad Willis said. "We've talked about continuing to build our fanbase, and they showed out tonight in Savannah. From set one to the finish, everyone brought the energy."

All healthy players for Georgia Southern appeared in the match and the team got its first look at the roster ahead of what figures to be a great season.

"We can attack in a lot of different ways, and our freshmen came in and played well tonight, and I am super proud of all of them," Willis said. "There are some things to take away in film that we like to see and some things we will continue to get better at. This is the baseline for where we are at heading into weekend one."

The Eagles start their 2025 campaign in Jacksonville on Aug. 29 to begin the North Florida Sunshine Tournament against the Ospreys.
