Mayor Jonathan McCollar declared a local state of emergency for the City of Statesboro this morning. This follows Bulloch County's and the State of Georgia's State of Emergency signed yesterday. Mayor McCollar asks area residents to limit road travel and stay home as weather conditions worsen throughout the day.

The hospital remains open, and its physicians, nurses, and other employees are equipped to continue caring for patients in the hospital, as well as those who may come to the emergency department. EGRMC has secured surplus supplies including mobile back-up generators and fuel to continue its services without interruption. Elective procedures have been canceled for August 30, 2023, and all EGRMC clinics are closed.
