The Bulloch County Commission met for its regular meeting on Tuesday evening, October 3. The Commission recognized the upcoming Red Ribbon Week, and several zoning requests were approved. Public comments were at times heated, addressing issues such as new wells in the county and the recent property tax increase. Brad Deal provided an update on the intersection of 119 and Mud Road.

Pink Out the Fountain, the Statesboro Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha's colorful reminder that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, was held at the fountain in downtown Statesboro on October 2. Several citizens, including breast cancer survivors, gathered for this important cause.

Flight Crew is an official Georgia Southern student organization and soccer supporters' group with more than 100 members. The club provides an energetic atmosphere at Tormenta FC and GSU soccer matches. They also hold numerous events on campus, participate in community service, and have intramural teams for every sport on campus.

The national test will consist of two portions, testing WEA and EAS capabilities. Both tests are scheduled to begin at approximately 2:20 p.m. ET on Wednesday, Oct. 4. The WEA portion of the test will be directed to all consumer cell phones. The EAS portion of the test will be sent to radios and televisions.

The Statesboro City Council discussed multiple matters at their regular bi-monthly meting on Tuesday morning, October 3, 2023. Among those matters were talks of a coordinated push to help recruit police officers, an update on the Johnson/Spruce Street shooting investigation, public transit, and available CARES Act funds.

Students in grades 9 through 12 can use Edgenuity to have free access to online academic course recovery after school. They also receive support from certified teachers.

Lisa Horton and Michael McCurdy are putting on their dancing shoes for one of the most important fundraising events of the year. Autumn Bash will be held on Friday, October 6, 2023, at The Market at Visit Statesboro. Dancing With the Statesboro Stars, an annual event benefiting Safe Haven, helps women, men, and children who have been affected by domestic abuse.
