But the current shortage encourages law breakers to engage in such criminal activities as bringing deer into Georgia that might carry disease or smuggling turtles and other reptiles out of the state for sale on the black market.

Hurricane season begins on June 1, 2024. La Nina and warmer-than-average ocean temperatures are major drivers of tropical activity. This year, NOAA is forecasting a range of 17 to 25 total named storms, with 8 to 13 of those predicted to become hurricanes, including 4 to 7 major hurricanes.

The 4th Annual Pull for Kids Sporting Clays Tournament, hosted by the Bank of Newington, is set to take place this Saturday, June 1. The shotgun start is at 8:30am at Bay Gall Sporting Clays in Garfield. Registration opens at 7:30am on site.

Presented by the Cotton Rose School of Dance and the Averitt Center for the Arts, dancers will tell the story of Peter Pan on June 1 and 2 on the Emma Kelly stage.

During a public budget meeting, citizens and officials debated the fiscal strategies and allocations within the county's budget, highlighting concerns over expenditure transparency and resource management. Key issues discussed included the accuracy of revenue projections, the use of reserve funds, and the financial sustainability of public projects like the Splash water park.

Gage Bunch has had the highest grade point average in his class since the 8th grade. He achieved his goal of being the class valedictorian and has already completed four semesters of college credit as a dual-enrolled student. He has fond memories of his high school career and encourages other students to be kind to each other and to their teachers.

The Murph Challenge consists of a one mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and another mile run. It was named in honor of Lieutenant Michael Murphy, who lost his life serving in Afghanistan.
