Five Georgia fallen firefighters among those being honored May 4-5 at National Memorial
This year’s national tribute will honor 89 firefighters who died in the line of duty in 2023 and 137 firefighters who died in previous years. Local communities can participate in Light the Night for Fallen Firefighters from May 1-5 by lighting their homes, businesses, landmarks, or fire departments with red lights.

Chick-fil-A announces new Statesboro restaurant, opening May 8
The restaurant will bring approximately 100 full- and part-time jobs to our community and will honor 100 local heroes with free Chick-fil-A entrées for a year. Local owner-operator David Boykin of the Northside Drive location will also be the independent franchised local owner-operator of the new Chick-fil-A at Eagles Corner.
