As we move into the first night of outages, we're making progress. So far, we've restored power to around 3,000 of our members. While this may seem like just a drop in the bucket, it's an important step forward.

Georgia Power crews are working around the clock to restore power after Hurricane Helene, which caused significant damage in the southeast region. Area Manager Joel Hanner reports that restoration efforts are underway, with more resources arriving daily and estimated restoration times expected by late Saturday.

The hospital secured backup supplies including mobile generators and fuel to continue normal operations during Hurricane Helene. An announcement will be made regarding scheduled surgeries and clinic operations on Monday.

The first Georgia Grown Bowl will see Georgia Southern meet up with Georgia State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 3:30pm.

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene , Crisis Cleanup has established a call center to streamline recovery efforts. This call center aims to efficiently coordinate volunteer assistance for muck out operations, tree removal and debris cleanup for affected residents.

If you are trying to get in touch with a family member, friend, or your Georgia Southern student right now, please know that much of the community is currently without power and Internet, and there are interruptions in cell service, as well. NO serious storm-related injuries or deaths have been reported at this time.

Damage assessment teams are in the field for the most efficient response. Crews are navigating flooded roadways, fallen trees, and high wind gusts attempting to restore power.

Pittman Park United Methodist Church will be open from 12pm to 7pm for those needing a place to refresh and recharge following the storm.

Excelsior EMC and neighboring cooperatives are facing widespread devastation. This seems to be the worst storm in Excelsior EMC’s history. The damage is extensive and conditions remain dangerous for both crews and the public, but they are working diligently to restore power.

Bulloch County residents are rallying together to assist with recovery efforts following the damage from Hurricane Helene. With hundreds of roads impassable due to fallen trees, the community is encouraged to lend their equipment and support to help clear the way.
