The 2024 Shopping by Lantern Light event, hosted by the Statesboro Farmers Market, drew record crowds for an evening of festive shopping, delicious local eats, and holiday cheer. With 88 vendors, special activities, and a glowing holiday village display, the night offered something for everyone. The City of Statesboro presented draft plans for the West Main Streetscape Improvement Project, focusing on beautification, accessibility, and infrastructure upgrades for West Main. The project aims to enhance downtown with features like decorative lighting, landscaping, improved sidewalks, and drainage upgrades while addressing community concerns about parking and construction impacts.

Dr. Lewis Stetson Rowles, a professor at Georgia Southern University, is working to improve access to clean drinking water for the Navajo Nation by integrating traditional cultural practices with modern water purification technologies.
