Celebrate Earth Week by participating in “The Greater Statesboro Pickup” on Sunday

Happy Earth Day! You can celebrate Earth Week right here in Statesboro by joining Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful in “The Greater Statesboro Pickup” this upcoming Sunday, April 28.

Keep Statesboro-Bulloch Beautiful (KSBB) is partnering with the Statesboro Regional Public Library to bring the Great American Cleanup to Statesboro. The cleanup will take place on Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 to 4:00pm.

The Great American Cleanup is one of the nation’s largest community improvement programs that Keep America Beautiful sponsors annually. Nearly 15,000 communities in the United States participate every year.

According to the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation, in 2023, "18,927 volunteers from 60 communities engaged in 682 events. Altogether, we cleaned over 2,023 miles of roadways, waterways, parks and trails and planted 3,219 trees, flowers and shrubs. We recycled 1.5 million pounds of materials, including over 147,208 pounds of hard-to-recycle materials, over 85,487 pounds of household hazardous waste, and over 319 tons of tires."

"The Greater Statesboro Pickup" will consist of picking up littered areas and removal of natural debris. All supplies for the revitalization of these areas will be provided.

Newly appointed KSBB Coordinator, Charly Kinship, says, “We wanted to select areas in each of our 5 zones for clean up around the city to show that we care about the city as a whole, focusing community wide.”
