Brooklet, Register, Portal and Statesboro city election qualifiers - Day One
This is an update of citizens who have qualified to run at the end of the first day of qualifying. Candidates who wish to qualify for a municipal office must file their notice of candidacy with the Election Superintendent in each respective city at their City Hall this week. Qualifying will run from Monday, August 21st at 8:30 a.m. through Friday, August 25th at 4:30 p.m.

BCS: Final public hearings on millage increase are Thursday
Due to the nature of the millage rate rollback process, this action will effectively constitute an increase in property taxes. All concerned citizens are invited to the final two public hearings on this tax increase on Thursday, Aug. 17, at 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Both will be held in the boardroom of the Bulloch County Board of Education.

Commission approves equipment for Public Works and Fire; Updates dog tethering ordinance
The Commission assembled for its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday morning, August 15. Several equipment purchases as well as a solid waste agreement with AllGreen Services were approved. The County also updated its dog tethering ordinance to require humane treatment of any tethered animals.
