David Owen, Ph.D., will serve as the new Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at Georgia Southern University.

The sculptures were designed by students and faculty of Georgia Southern’s Betty Foy Sanders Department of Art.

Unique to the state of Georgia, the 37,000 square foot GISIRTC will be a division of Ogeechee Technical College, and will be located near the main campus of the College at the corner of A.J. Riggs Road and Highway 301 South in Bulloch County. It is projected to open in March 2025.

Bulloch County Summer Nutrition Program sites saw high demand on Monday distributing over 6,000 meals before running out leaving some families without food. A list of free sit down meal options for children and other food options are included in the story.

While the exchange program with Leopold-Hoesch Berufskolleg, a vocational college in Dortmund was focused on academics and job shadowing, the students had the opportunity to visit museums, historic sites, and immerse themselves in German culture.

Since the consolidation of the main GS campus in Statesboro with the former Armstrong State University, the university has yet to reach 70% occupancy in dorms in Savannah. During the last academic term year, just over half (57%) of the dorms were occupied. 

The endowment, the largest in the college’s history, will be used to establish an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree. The new degree pathway is scheduled to accept its first cohort in January of 2024. It will initially accept 24 students in hopes to begin closing the nursing shortage in the region.
