Georgia Southern University is proud to announce a new brand and merchandise line dedicated to honoring and benefiting Freedom, the University’s live bald eagle mascot. Freedom came to Georgia Southern in 2004 and now lives at the University’s Center for Wildlife Education in Statesboro alongside other eagles, raptors, reptiles and waterfowl. He will celebrate his 20th birthday this December.

Candler County (Metter) School District Superintendent, Dr. Bubba Longgrear has been named one of four finalist for the prestigious 2024 Superintendent of the Year award for Georgia.

Thirteen rural schools statewide are receiving stART grants, which can be used to create or expand arts initiatives that significantly improve students’ access to the arts. This is the sixth distribution of funding provided through the grants. Three schools in Bulloch County were among the recipients.

This is the seventh year in a row that Georgia students outpaced the national average.
