Literacy Luau is Tuesday evening at Statesboro High School

The free family-friendly event is fun for all ages and is open to all families in Bulloch County! Come enjoy free food, games, prizes, the Book Bus, and learning, all focused on encouraging reading skills.

Come celebrate Read Across America Week at the Bulloch County Literacy Council's 2nd Annual Literacy Luau on Tuesday, March 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Statesboro High School, located at 10 Coach Lee Hill Blvd.

The family-friendly event is FREE and fun for all ages. The Luau is open to all families in Bulloch County. Come enjoy free food, games, prizes, and learning -- all focused on encouraging reading skills, particularly for pre-school through fifth-grade children. Children will also enjoy the Bulloch County Schools Book Bus.

About the Bulloch County Literacy Council

The Bulloch County Literacy Council is a collaborative group of educators, representatives from literacy organizations, business and civic organization leaders, and community volunteers. Its purpose is to sustain a community collaborative that works to increase Kindergarten readiness for students from birth through Pre-Kindergarten and to support the improvement of literacy levels for all children in Kindergarten through fifth grade.

The Literacy Council's Bulloch READ initiative:

  • Reading: Encourage the creation of Reading nooks. 
  • Environment: Encourage a literacy-rich Environment.
  • Access: Increase Access to book and reading resources.
  • Development: Increase early brain Development.
