United Way of Southeast Georgia has awarded its inaugural scholarship to Marcus Hartwell, Jr., a graduating senior recognized for his academic promise, personal determination, and commitment to his future.
The new scholarship is part of United Way’s ongoing investment in education across all stages of life. The organization has long supported initiatives that promote learning and student success, from providing free books for early learners to funding meal programs and academic support for school-age children.
“This scholarship reflects our commitment to investing in the future leaders, changemakers, and contributors who will strengthen our communities for years to come,” said Carey Cassedy, Executive Director of United Way of Southeast Georgia. “At United Way, we believe in the power of opportunity—and in the promise of our young people.”
The United Way Scholarship is designed to support graduating seniors in the region who demonstrate not only academic achievement but also the drive and vision to succeed in life beyond high school. By recognizing students like Hartwell, the organization aims to help build stronger, more resilient communities.
This is just the beginning of what they hope will become a longstanding tradition of supporting students through direct scholarship opportunities.
