61 years after the Swingin' Medallions was founded in 1962, they still have it. They proved that on Thursday night as a record crowd showed up for the City of Statesboro's third concert in their Downtown Live FREE concert series. Even 98 degree heat didn't stop citizens from filling the Bulloch County Courthouse lawn, Siebald Street, East Main Street and the Synovus bank parking lot. It is estimated that well over 1,000 Swingin' Medallion fans came out for the evening concert.
The Medallions opened up with the hit song, "Double Shot of My Baby's Love" and ran through their list of hits, thrilling the crowd.
Liquid Pleasure July 20th
Downtown Live will cap the 2023 series with Liquid Pleasure on July 20. Liquid Pleasure has brought audiences to their feet for over five decades. With crowd-pleasing covers of modern groups like The Black Eyed Peas and Outkast to Motown staples like the Temptations and the Supremes, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy.
Grab your dancing shoes and lawn chair and join the fun in Downtown Statesboro this summer. Admission to the concerts is free. Food trucks and beverage vendors will open at 5:00 p.m. on the day of the event with several downtown restaurants also within walking distance of the concert stage. Downtown Live is a family-friendly event for all ages.
