Don’t forget to check your smoke alarms warns the Statesboro Fire Department. They are lifesavers!
“Working smoke alarms are an essential part of home fire safety,” said Statesboro Fire Prevention Chief Stephan Hutchins. “The alarms provide early warnings in fire emergencies and allow occupants to quickly escape dangerous structures.”

Recently firefighters went door-to-door again checking for working alarms in Statesboro neighborhoods and installed as many as three free alarms in homes, as needed.
“Our goal is to install 500 free smoke alarms in local residences,” said Hutchins.
The free smoke alarms are provided by the American Red Cross of Southeast Georgia.
The fire department provides free alarms and installation to residents year-round and anticipates hosting more events in the coming year. The last smoke alarm blitz event was held in December.
“The goal of these blitz events is to greatly reduce the risk of fire-related injuries and fatalities among the residents of Statesboro,” says Hutchins. “We’re excited to be back in the community and offering these events again.”
