Pittman Park United Methodist Church will welcome one of America’s premier youth handbell choirs for a special performance on Wednesday, June 4, at 7:00 p.m.
The Bells of Christ Church, an exceptional auditioned bell choir from historic Christ Church Anglican in Savannah’s Historic District, will present a free concert as part of their summer tour.
The 12-member group, made up of high school and college students, is now in its 26th year. Ringing on 15 octaves of handbells and chimes, the choir has performed across the eastern and southern United States, including in Washington D.C., Colonial Williamsburg, and by invitation at the international Spoleto Festival in Charleston. The group has also released three professional recordings.
The 1.5-hour-long concert will feature not only music but also a history of handbells and a hands-on traveling bell museum.
Mark Williams, Parish Musician at Christ Church, says, “You’ll hear some of the finest bell repertoire in the genre. We guarantee that the program will be joyous and entertaining for the entire family.”
