The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Program is now recruiting new members for the school year. Open to teens ages 14–20, this hands-on program gives students a chance to explore law enforcement careers, gain real-world skills, and build lasting friendships — all while making a positive impact in their community.

With the new school year officially underway, the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging local teens to consider joining Explorer Post #8, a youth program designed to introduce students to the world of law enforcement while helping them build leadership, teamwork, and career skills.

The Explorer Program, affiliated with the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office, is open to young men and women ages 14 to 20 who are interested in exploring a future in public safety. Participants engage in hands-on training exercises such as conducting mock traffic stops, managing crime scenes, and learning about proper police procedures all under the guidance of trained law enforcement officers.

According to program organizers, Explorer Post #8 goes beyond law enforcement education by helping teens build character development skills while getting to help serve their community. Teens in the program also travel to regional and national competitions, including the annual Scouting America Winterfest, where they put their skills to the test alongside other Explorer units from across the country.

In addition to practical experience, the program offers mentorship opportunities, team-building events, and the chance to form long-lasting friendships with peers who share similar goals. No prior experience is required only a commitment to learning and personal growth.

Local middle school, high school, and college students who are looking for a structured, impactful extracurricular activity are encouraged to apply. The program meets regularly throughout the year and plays an active role in community events and public safety outreach.
