The Southern Manor Group hosted two informational sessions recently about an alternative option to pay for senior care at an event called “Exploring VA Benefits” at The Gardens Senior Living Community. Nearly sixty local citizens attended to learn more about this important program specifically for veterans.
The event was for people that had questions about potentially qualifying for supplemental VA benefits. There was complimentary desserts and coffee.
Veterans and or surviving spouses of veterans, who are seeking additional ways to pay for senior living, could be eligible for “Aid and Attendance.” Ralph Cowart, co-owner of The Southern Manor Group, covered eligibility, financial requirements and the documentation needed to receive the benefits.
“It is a benefit that is available to veterans and their surviving spouses that will help further aid their retirement. It is important that they know that it is available for them,” said Cowart who currently serves at the President of the Assisted Living Association of Georgia and has worked with the Veterans Association for nearly a decade.
“It was extremely informative and helpful to understand the qualifications and how to apply for this program,” said one attendee.
If anyone has any further questions about VA benefits, they can go on Southern Manor’s website www.southernmanorstatesboro.com and click on ‘Info For Veterans,’ which will provide even more information.
