Greg Kelly, executive director of the Savannah Airport Commission is giving kudos to his staff and organization after earning national recognition.
Airport Experience News (AXN) is deeming Greg Kelly, executive director of the Savannah Airport Commission, director of the year.
“Greg has served Savannah/Hilton Head International (SAV) and the Savannah/Hilton Head community for more than 30 years and has overseen extraordinary growth for the airport during his tenure at the helm,” said Melissa K. Montes, publisher and portfolio director of AXN.
Kelly began his career at the Savannah Airport Commission organization in 1989. He became the executive director in 2014.
"His work on behalf of the entire North American airport industry has been extraordinary,” said Montes.
Montes said Kelly has been an integral part of the following industry initiatives:
- Airports Council International-North America
- The American Association of Airport Executives
- Southeast Airports Disaster Operations Group
The SAV has also earned the title of best airport in the U.S. by Travel and Leisure readers. According to Kelly, the ongoing success of the small hub airport is thanks to the contributions from his entire team.
“I am fortunate to have a great team of employees and a great board of commissioners to make sure our airport operates very well," said Kelly. "We also have wonderful business partners who contribute to our overall success, and who help us maintain the reputation we have as being a great airport to do business with."
“While I appreciate being recognized by AXN individually, I consider this to be a reflection on our entire organization,” he said.
Kelly is the first of three directors of the year AXN will name for 2022.
AXN will announce the selections for the medium and large airport categories in the coming weeks.
Award winners will be honored at the 2023 Airport Experience Conference.
