Bulloch History: Face Jugs Part II

Many face jugs have been found along the routes of the Underground Railroad, indicating how much they were valued

Thanks to McCook's Pharmacy for making Bulloch Tid Bit's available on Grice Connect.

Since slaves were not allowed a grave marker, the Devil Jug was used. Hopefully it would scare away the Devil himself. Many face jugs have been found along the routes of the Underground Railroad, indicating how much they were valued.

Bulloch Tidbits are a weekly feature written and narrated by the Bulloch County Historical Society (BCHS) Executive Director Virginia Anne Franklin Waters.  Each week Virginia Anne takes Grice Connect readers onto a historical journey back in time saluting the people and places that have make Statesboro and Bulloch a wonderful place to call home.

Bulloch Tidbits on Grice Connect are made possible thanks to the generous support of McCook's Pharmacy a locally owned pharmacy located at 23630 US-80 in Statesboro.
