Heavy Rain Forces Road Closures in Bulloch County; More Storms Expected Tonight

Heavy rainfall has led to hazardous road conditions and multiple closures across Bulloch County on Monday, May 12, 2025. As more storms are expected tonight, officials are urging drivers to use extreme caution and stay weather-aware.

Bulloch County road crews have closed multiple roads Monday, May 12, 2025, due to flooding and rain-related damage following heavy rainfall across the region.  Citizens are encouraged to monitor Bulloch County Public Safety and EMA Facebook page for updates.

Currently impassable please avoid:

  • Country Club Road at Hood Road/Highpoint Road
  • Hagan Millpond Road between Stilson-Leefield Road to Old River Road South

Drivers are urged to avoid these and other flood-prone areas and to never attempt to drive through standing water. County officials are continuing to monitor road conditions and may close additional routes if necessary.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Charleston warns that the weather threat isn’t over. Isolated to severe thunderstorms are possible beginning around 6–7 p.m. Monday and continuing through approximately 3–4 a.m. Tuesday. Southeast Georgia, including Bulloch County, faces the greatest risk, with the potential for damaging winds, small hail, and isolated tornadoes. The region is currently under a marginal risk for severe weather per the NWS Storm Prediction Center.

Rain showers and thunderstorms are likely into the evening, with a high near 76 and overnight lows around 64. Rain chances remain elevated overnight at 80%, with another quarter to half inch of rain expected. Tuesday will bring partly sunny skies with scattered afternoon storms and a high of 81. Additional chances for showers and storms linger into Wednesday.
