Georgia Southern women's basketball junior Terren Ward was named an All-Sun Belt Conference First-Team honoree with the release of the league's annual awards by the conference.

Ward earns first-team honors for the first time in her career and adds to her already growing list of Sun Belt accolades. She was a second-team honoree and the league's Sixth Woman of the Year in 2021-22, as well as the league's Freshman of the Year in 2020-21. She is the first Eagle to earn first-team All-Sun Belt Conference honors since Georgia Southern joined the league in 2014.

The Jesup, Georgia-native averaged 18.1 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in 2022-23, ranking second in the Sun Belt in scoring and fourth in rebounding. She notched 10 double-doubles and had nine games of 20+ points, eight of which came against Sun Belt opponents. Her 19.2 points per game average in Sun Belt-only games were tops among all players. Ward was twice named Sun Belt Player of the Week (Jan. 3, Feb. 27) and her 40-plus point performance against Arkansas State on Dec. 31 was the highest scoring game for a Sun Belt player this season. She is one of only 16 players in NCAA Division I to record a 40-plus point game this season.

Ward joins Angel McGowan (2015-16, 2016-17) as two-time All-Sun Belt Conference honorees in school history and she is the first Eagle to earn first-team honors since Anna Claire Knight was a first-team All-SoCon selection in 2013-14.

Ward and the Eagles open up Sun Belt Conference play on Wednesday, taking on the winner of No. 11 seed Arkansas State and No. 14 seed ULM at 6 p.m. (ET) in Pensacola, Fla.
