STATESBORO — The last time both the Blue Devil basketball teams made it to the Sweet Sixteen was the 2016-2017 season. This year, both Blue Devil varsity basketball teams are Sweet Sixteen bound and Statesboro High School sent them off with a community pep rally outside of the school Friday morning at 10:30 am.
The Lady Blue Devils (22-4), who finished their regular region season 8-2 and second overall, are traveling to Union Grove High School to take on the Lady Wolverines (27-1), who finished their regular region season 12-0 and first overall, Friday, February 23, 2024 at 6 pm. If the Lady Blue Devils defeat the Lady Wolverines, they will be Elite Eight bound traveling next Tuesday to a place to be determined at a later date.
The Blue Devils (21-4) will be taking on the Dutchtown Bulldogs (18-9) at home on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 7 pm at home. Both these teams finished their regular region season at the number one seed. If the Blue Devils defeat the Bulldogs, they will be Elite Eight bound next Wednesday, possibly with another home game, against a team to be determined at a later date.
