Young wrestlers across the southeast are preparing to sharpen their skills at the inaugural Southeast Georgia Camp of Champs, a two-day intensive wrestling clinic hosted at Georgia Southern University in Statesboro on June 5th and 6th, 2025.
The camp is a collaborative effort between GA FCA Wrestling, Bulloch Elite Training Center, and Storm Wrestling, offering a valuable opportunity for athletes aged 7-18.
The camp boasts an impressive lineup of coaching talent, headlined by Gerald Carr, the head clinician and founder of Storm Wrestling Center. Carr brings over 25 years of wrestling experience to the mat, including a stellar competitive career marked by three undefeated GHSA State Championships, a Junior College National Championship (where he was also named Outstanding Wrestler), and two NCAA All-American honors at the University of Minnesota. His coaching prowess is equally remarkable, having guided over 50 high school state champions and contributed to five GHSA Team State Championships during his time as an assistant coach at West Laurens High School.
Joining Carr is Bryce Carr, a 2017 graduate of The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a graduate assistant at Cumberland University. Bryce, who holds a degree in Psychology and was a Dean's List student, has been a regular leading coach alongside Gerald Carr for over six years and has already assisted in coaching two All-Americans at the collegiate level. His own wrestling accolades include a 2015 NJCAA National Championship, a Prep State Championship, four Georgia State placements, and two NCAA Division I qualifications, culminating in being named the 2018 SoCon Wrestler of the Year.
The two-day camp will follow a structured schedule, with both days featuring technique sessions from 9:00 AM to 11:45 AM, followed by lunch provided by Coastal Plains FCA from 11:45 AM to 1:00 PM. The afternoons will be dedicated to live wrestling scenarios from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, allowing participants to immediately apply the techniques learned in the morning. While lunch is provided, attendees are welcome to bring their own meals if they prefer.
The cost to participate in this high-caliber training opportunity is $50, with online payment available through the Bulloch Elite Training Center website: https://bullochelitetrainingcenter.com/products/summer-camp. Organizers are encouraging attendees to arrive early on the first day, June 5th, to complete a waiver. Doors will open at 8:00 AM.
Coach Andy Tomlin, owner of Bulloch Elite Training Center, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming camp, stating, "I am beyond thrilled to kick off our summer training program at Bulloch Elite Training Center with the inaugural Southeast Georgia Camp of Champs! Having the opportunity to learn from the world-renowned Coach Gerald Carr is truly an incredible experience for all our young athletes. It's going to be a fantastic journey of growth and skill development!"
With a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success, both Gerald and Bryce Carr are poised to provide invaluable instruction and mentorship to the aspiring young wrestlers attending the Southeast Georgia Camp of Champs. This clinic promises to be a significant event for the region's wrestling community, fostering growth and development for the next generation of champions.
