BROOKLET — “Lights out defense.”

That’s what coaches and teammates kept yelling on the sideline and that was the theme of the night for the SEB Yellow Jackets after defeating Therrell High School, 20-0 and New Hampstead High School 20 to 14, to win the third and fourth round of the state playoffs.

The Southeast Bulloch Yellow Jackets are now 22-0 on the season, 61-0 overall since the program started, and on their way to fight for their third consecutive state championship title.

In game one of the night, Southeast Bulloch defeated Therrell High School, 20-0, in a dominant performance.

New Hampstead defeated Harris County 13-0. A huge interception made by New Hampstead with 6 minutes to go in the fourth quarter of their game pushed them over the top to sign their name for the semi-final against the Yellow Jackets.

In the second game of the night, Southeast beat New Hampstead in a 20-14 win to remain undefeated. It was a fight for the Yellow Jackets, but they came out on top in the end.

“It doesn’t seem real right now, but it’s pretty awesome,” said SEB Head Coach Marci Cochran following the Yellow Jackets’ semifinal win. “I’m so excited. I’m excited for these kids. They deserve it. They’ve played their hearts out. They’ve worked hard and they deserve a chance to play in the Benz.”

There will be a send-off for the varsity flag football team on Sunday at 1 p.m. at the school. Coach Cochran loved the student fan section at the games Tuesday night and is challenging the community to come and support the girls as they travel to play the Benz on Monday.
